Sant Namdev was a pivotal 13th-14th century Indian poet and Bhakti Movement saint who championed social equality by vehemently rejecting the caste system. He used Abhanga hymns and communal singing (Sankirtan) as his primary tools to unite common people. His lasting pan-Indian legacy is cemented by the inclusion of his works in the Sikh sacred scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib.
